This is a personal site. It sells nothing, has no accounts, and collects as little as it can. This page says exactly what it does collect and why.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read. It records things like the page you viewed, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device you used. It is set to run only after you accept it, and if you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is sent.
IP addresses are handled by Google. Their own privacy terms cover what they do with the data, and I have no way to identify an individual visitor from what I can see.
The email list
If you enter an email address in the join form, it goes to Buttondown, which runs the list. Buttondown sends a confirmation email and stores nothing until you click the link in it. I can see the address and the date you joined. Nothing else.
The list is used to send new essays and one email when the community opens. It is not sold, rented, or shared. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes the address.
Hosting
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, their infrastructure processes request data such as IP addresses in order to serve pages and block abuse.
Email you send me
If you email me, I keep the email. That is the whole policy.
Your rights
You can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. For the email list you can also just unsubscribe, which does the same thing faster. Write to [email protected] and I will action it.
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing this site's cookies, which brings the banner back.
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
